Appointments

There are several ways to get the medical advice you need. We offer face to face appointments, telephonic consultations and advice via an online consultation (eConsult).

The practice operates a 'duty doctor' system to ensure we always have adequate capacity to deal with patients who are acutely unwell and require medical attention the same day.

Appointments are available throughout the day during our opening hours and can be booked online, by telephone or in-person at the reception. Please select one of the below appointment types, to get the best suited help on time.

For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service, which can help you without any appointment. This will help us being more efficient and making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.

Pharmacy

Your pharmacy can advise you on minor illness without the need of an appointment. Please speak to a pharmacist first.

Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals who can offer clinical advice, over the counter medicines and their use, to effectively and safely manage a range of minor health concerns. They can also help you to decide whether you'll need to see a doctor. You don't need an appointment and you won't even be asked to make a purchase. Every pharmacy also has a private consultation area for you to talk about your symptoms in private if you prefer.

GP Online Services/Appointment Booking

At the current time we are only offering limited appointments available to book online. We are intending to gradually extend this service.

You can do this via the NHS App or Patient Access. The NHSApp can be used on Smartphones, tablets and PCs and gives you access to many other NHS Services and NHS information sources, so is the preferred method. When you go to register you need to have either your passport or photo driving licence card with you to proceed, without having to visit the surgery. If you don’t have these then you can still register but will need to contact the surgery for log on details. For these please send an email to getonline.shipston@nhs.net and they will send these to you.

If you already have Patient Access then you can continue to use this option, but we would recommend moving to the NHS App.

Why does the receptionist need to ask what’s wrong with me?

Our reception staff are important members of the practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients ‘why the need to be seen’.

We have trained our reception staff to ask certain questions to help make sure you receive the most appropriate medical care from the most appropriate health professional at the most appropriate time.
